The owners of a beautifully preserved Neo-Grec townhouse in Park Slope, Brooklyn, needed to add a second bathroom. The house retains almost all of its original ornate detail (the door surrounds in these sketches are the originals) and the owners love the Islamic strains that run through designs of the house's Victorian era, so we attempted to create a new bathroom to fit seamlessly into the existing house while emphasizing the "flavors" that the owners love.

Of note is the new shower, which is to occupy an existing non-functioning toilet closet. An existing skylight far above will create the experience of stepping into a "grotto" or shaft of light for a shower.
